I think it's about time I write a journal about one of the greatest bands in the Philippines... FUSEBOXX!

Well I' not writing this because I'm related to one of the members. I've known them since they joined Muziklaban in 2003. Way back before he became a member. Actually, their bands were in the same contest. And the first time I heard them play, Whoa! I was actually speechless, dumbfounded, awestrucked, jawdropped and drooling ! haha! I said to myself they are the salvation of Philippine Music! Since then, I followed them... literally. i became a fuseboxx stalker nyahahaha!

With all the bands coming out. I should say not all of them deserves a record deal. I'm not being biased here.. I'm just being honest. Some artists doesn't even know how to sing or even play an instrument (I won't name names for my security's sake haha!) and yet they get a platinum? Oh comm'on! In here, Music = $Money$ and NOT talent.

Before I get too sentimental about out poor music industry, let me introduce you to the members who aside from being my music inspirations, they are good friends:

Fuseboxx is a 5-piece Filipino / Pinoy Progressive Rock band (composed of 1 female member and 4 male members). They easily caught the attention of the whole country with their technical proficiency in their instruments and the capability to meld different musical elements from a vast array of genres (such as Classical, Fusion, New Age etc.) into their progressive rock style of music. Although they were the grand champion of the 2003 Red Horse Muziklaban, they're still considered underground and under rated; this is due to the relatively low acceptance of the technical bands among the Filipino masses, furthermore local media itself does not consider this a profitable niche.

Fuseboxx' members draw from a myriad of influences, from progressive rock, to traditional Metal, to fusion, to New Age. Their songs feature heavy keyboard work and portions of some of their songs are clearly influenced by synth/piano driven acts. Meanwhile, Abby's melodic vocal style shows influences of female new age/alternative singers. These, combined with Eric's new wave/fusion influenced synth technique and Rodney's free form bass lines ripping away the heavy pounding beats of Lester's playing, gives Fuseboxx a distinct sound that can be both soothing and heavy at the same time giving them their own identity as both a progressive rock and Filipino band.

Fuseboxx are currently hard at work on their second studio album under Ballyhoo Records, with their current line-up this will sure be a heavier sounding album. In their recent performances, they have been playing a new song entitled Pagbalik, which is most likely the first single from the new album. (from Wikipedia [link])
